What Blaine was saying to him? That was the last straw – the last grip of the normality Elliott was clinging onto. He made a odd sound, somewhere between a sob and a sniff, before he just burst into tears. He couldn’t help it, Blaine was just being so sweet to him and Elliott wasn’t used to people saying kind things about his body. Him or his aesthetic? Sure, people complimented that. But not HIM.

“M’ Sorry.” Elliott mumbled against Blaine’s neck, clinging a little tighter to him and trying to control his tears – not that he was doing very well at it. “Y’didn’t sign up for this, huh?” He gave an awkward laugh, directly followed by a sniffle.

Elliott pulling him closer caused Blaine to slightly lift his heels off the floor so he could keep his hold around the taller man perched on the kitchen counter’s shoulders as tight as he possibly could.  He didn’t mean to bring Elliott to tears with what he said.  It was only the truth and he figured Elliott deserved to hear it after being so self-conscious about something that he was so mistaken to be shaken up about.  Though it was easy to put himself in Elliott’s shoes and understand why–everything Blaine told him wasn’t just lip service to make him feel better.  Every word was deeply meant and more than a placating compliment.

What he shouldn’t have done was feel his throat turn into goosebumps underneath Elliott’s lips.  Or the way his throat caved in in a dizzying, head buzz sort of feeling.  One he had to clear his throat to get over.  It was his neck.  Just a weak spot.  That’s all.  Certainly inappropriate to feel moving through his body when someone he was holding was only looking for comfort. Nothing was okay about that.  A weak spot.  Nothing more, nothing less.  Breathe and forget about it and for goodness sake don’t shiver!  Shh.  It’s okay,” changing his focus was like face planting against the brick wall.  But he did it by nuzzling his nose against Elliott’s shoulder and leaning back just enough that even in the inch apart space between their noses he could focus on Elliott’s teary eyes instead.  “I signed up for anything you need the minute we became friends, okay?”
