Even though he had waited for what had felt like an eternity, Barry was very much aware the only means of transportation that could have gotten him to the other side of the city in such a short length time would have had to be a rocket ship, which was why he had his legendary ‘crazy Uber driver’ excuse at a ready in case the other asked any questions. The moment he turned to meet an open door, however, all of those he had been moulding over since his arrival were blow away as though by means of a breeze.
“Hey!,” he therefore greeted back with a bright grin, deaf to whatever had embarrassed Blaine about his original form of greeting. “Well, I mean, since you’re asking so nicely,” he then proceeded to tease, raising a shoulder as he stepped inside. Eyebrows rose in surprise at the sight of candles and wine, not because he disapproved, but rather because he himself was used to being the one receiving somebody else with such a scenery. “Wow…”
Getting a bit awestruck at first seeing Barry was something Blaine wouldn’t get use to but was sort of learning to expect. It’d been forever (or at least it felt that way) since he’d let someone in close enough to make him feel the way Barry was beginning to make him feel. Excited to see someone. To be near them, even. The idea of having something like they were beginning to become used to be such a daydream that was best left as nothing more than that in his book. Enter the late summer storm of last year and being holed up in a music sheet store for shelter for the night that, thankfully, wasn’t spent alone and, with it, Barry. His guard and easy obliviousness to daring to chip away the wall Blaine never thought he’d build just crumbled. One chip at a time. Until there was nothing more than cinder blocks of a foundation and Blaine stood staring down at it wondering how or why he’d ever constructed it to begin with.
Missing the chance with Barry would’ve been a shame bouncing off the walls and never getting in. And, yet, it was such a subtle thing that now had him decorating the entire living room just for a late night visit. Oh and don’t forget the wine. Letting Barry enter first–Blaine stuck a bit behind and watched as he glanced around and took notice of everything he’d put into getting things ready to have him over. A tiny knot formed in his belly thanks to the voice in the back of his head. Was it too much? “It’s not too much..is it? I just.. You’re always doing such nice things for me. I wanted the chance to return the favor and this time you couldn’t stop me.”
