♧ Any part of their canon portrayal you dislike?

Actually?  I like all of Blaine’s canon material.  Including the wonky Season 5 where everything was a little bit on the WTF side of the tracks and Blainers sort of had his meltdown.  I think it added a layer of unsurety in him that kept building from season two and hit a breaking point in season five.  Without it, he would have been a more flat happy-go-lucky / is this guy for real cause he had no problems whatsoever sort of character.  

A lot of people don’t like how vulnerable he was.  Or that he seemed to be a different person.  But I think as the seasons progressed and he had his bottoming out?  It sort of proved that he was more human than the side character he’d originally started as.  I sort of accept Blaine for Blaine and created my headcanons along the way that align with what happened.

My only eh moment was the cheating plotline.  He was so torn up over Kurt just talking and flirting with someone in season three.  I just don’t see Blaine as the type to cheat.  I think the breakup could have happened in a different way.  Maybe just a massive falling out of “you’re not here for me anymore” sort of fight.  Blaine gets validation from people and I get that, but I just don’t see him as a cheater.  However, I do run with that plot and have adjusted my personal opinions to line up with canon.  He didn’t just get over it in my plotlines though.  It’s something he regrets even years later when the notion pops in his head that he did that.  No matter what AU or ship I write it in, it’s there.  I hope that makes sense!

Tumblr (y / n): Blaine uses tumblr mostly for following some of his favorite musicians or musicals as well as indulging himself on some fanfiction now and then.  

Plus, those showchoir blogs, too!!

Instagram (y / n): Instagram is one of his favorite social media sites.  He loves keeping up with friends posts and indulges himself in posting snippets of projects he’s working on.  Especially later on in life when more of his friends are busy and/or scattered throughout the states and when he’s becoming more known on Broadway and in the music industry.  It’s a great means of keeping in touch with the people who want to know what you’re up to. 

Facebook (y / n): Blaine isn’t too into facebook.  It’s his least used social media outlet.  Mainly uses it to post generic things or say hi to people he’s not overly close to.  He’d rather just text or call someone rather than use messenger.

Twitter (y / n): Twitter is another way Blaine keeps up to date with his favorite artists, etc. Doesn’t really use it for his own personal stuff until later on down the road and then it’s mostly tied in with his Instagram posts.

Pinterest (y / n): Doesn’t use it often but has been known to indulge himself on getting ideas for organizing, etc.  Now, Dad!Blaine?  Pinterest junkie!  He’s craft dad extraordinaire to a ‘please hold him back’ level.  Think Puppet Master Blaine only with a little kid to entertain.  Scary stuff. 😛

Youtube or Twitch (y / n): Blaine uses twitch for game mods but doesn’t really use it for anything else.  Youtube?  Now and then.  Mostly for mindless entertainment purposes.

Two Words: Gap Attack.  I don’t think you can get any more gut wrenchingly embarrassed than pouring your adolescent love out in an a capella version of When I Get You Alone to a guy who isn’t out of the closet in the middle of his workplace surrounded by your friends and a bunch of strangers on Valentine’s Day. Only to find out you outed him, got him fired, and he gives you a nasty dose of a reminder that if you and he went further than a coffee date or two? He’d end up a registered sex offender.

I would say that since Season 2 is my default verse, at that point in time, it would be the fact that he feels responsible for the boy who he asked to the dance being hurt.  Him and this other kid were the only out people in that school and Blaine was the one to ask him to Sadie Hawkins.  While the ignorance of the boys who jumped them and ‘beat the crap outta them’ is to blame, Blaine and his nature would not see it that way.  He took the responsibility of being the one to initiate such a bold move for the two of them.  I can imagine that after the bullying he talks about, that boy underwent the same bullying and might’ve had hesitations, but for Blaine it was a way to stand up, have faith that they could do this and maybe change people’s minds, and have the courage to enjoy themselves in spite of the awful things they were going through.  They went and ended up in the hospital for Blaine’s hopefulness and he feels awful that the boy will be stuck with the same doubt and nightmares that he has because of it.

There’s no other mention of that boy in the entire series (though sometimes I like to headcanon that his name was Eli and a couple years later might’ve talked again..ahem) and with the way Blaine hangs onto people he cares about?  It must have created a deep enough rift between them that they never see one another again after Blaine transfers.  Though I have about a dozen reasons and theories why that happened in my head if anyone’s interested to chat about it!
