“She’s so beautiful.”

“She is, isn’t she,” Blaine could barely take his eyes off the infant curled up in a tiny ball against his chest. His chin practically shoved into his collar just to keep an eye on her.  Kurt was fast asleep after taking the nightshift.  Which was probably wholly unnecessary seeing as how their daughter only woke up once the entire evening and made the entire apartment well aware of her displeasure with a set of lungs born from a mother and father who were known to have quite the pairs themselves.  A thick head of dark, silky hair made the perfect temptation to nuzzle his nose down into.  An inhale of his new favorite scent later and he felt like his heart was going to burst in thousands.  Forget in two.  He was well beyond that the second he laid eyes on her.

As much as he’d love to say he never wanted to move?   Blaine needed a break.  If nothing else just to stand up and go to the kitchen to make them some lunch just to stretch his legs.  Standing up, the starry eyed Dad bent down and with a delicateness one might handle a piece of glass ready to shatter at the barest touch, tiny Hepburn was now Santana’s bundle to hold.  Blaine made no attempt to hide the deviousness in his stare.  A small smirk curled the edge of his lips pausing to gauge Santana’s reaction as he straightened back up.

Wow.  She didn’t move an inch.  You just may be a natural.  Who’d have thought?”

nick.

he still couldn’t believe it. of course he knew that blaine was in the big apple. just never had the chance to look him up. ❝  yeah – i moved here back in september from chicago. i’m in medical school at columbia.  ❞ he said. he wrapped his arms around him for a quick hug.

❝  – do you have time to sit?  ❞ he asked as he motioned to his table. he moved his laptop and books out of the way so blaine had room.

❝  – so what have you been up to? how is kurt – you’re still together right?  ❞

Bright eyes took in the sight of Nick as if he were trying to figure out how fate plopped them both in this exact spot together and the answer was written in Nick’s very presence.  “September?  Columbia?  Wow!  That’s great!  I can’t believe you’re here.”  He blinked and nodded quickly.  Like there was any other option?!  Brushing off a single class wouldn’t hurt.  Not for the sake of catching up with a fellow former Warbler. “Yeah, I’ve got time.  I’d make it if I didn’t.”  And he slid into the chair, letting his bag fall to the floor at his feet.

“Still together,” he asked with that same, stupefied grin talking about Kurt continued to bring out, “Yes!  Of course.  We’re married..  Going on four years.”  Pride shined out of him like a beam of sunlight cutting through the clouds.  “Can you believe it?  What else besides Columbia have you been up to?  How do you like New York City?”

hudson.

Hudson drummed his fingers on the bathroom counter, feeling nervous. He missed the ease of New York and how easy things were for him there. He’d gone to a high school specifically for the performing arts. A school where he wasn’t some legacy. Now he felt like he was finally getting to know his father, finally feel like his son.

Blaine fixed his hair so a few stray strands were placed perfect. He smiled, remembering the first time he’d had Blaine help with his hair, and laughed. “Thanks,” he stated before letting out a sigh. “Is it weird I’m nervous?”

“You’re welcome,” he spoke softly trying to ease the boy’s nerves.  Hudson had no reason to worry.  Legacy or not?  He was his own person.  Talented, smart.  A good kid with high ambitions, drive and a voice that no one could resist admiring.

The moment he walked through those doors, Hudson would be closer to not only his parents, but he family of friends that very school bonded together that made today possible.  And it was going to love him as much as all of them did. “Don’t be. They’re going to adore you.  Just take a breath and know at the end of the day?  We’re all here for you.”  Tucking his chin towards his purple and teal striped bow tie, Blaine arched a brow and grinned.  “Be excited.  Enjoy it. No more nerves.  Okay?”

Hudson looked in the mirror as he played with his hair before hearing the door to the bathroom open before seeing his uncle Blaine’s reflection in the mirror before turning to face him. “First day at McKinley High. Any pointers?” he asked.

As was tradition, Kurt and Blaine made their way from New York City to see the new faces filling room after room of music and arts classes at their former high school.  Seeing McKinley, a public school now built on dreams, grow and blossom as well as Hepburn’s Midtown Manhattan private school was something that Blaine and Kurt could never miss. Plus.  There was always Sam to root on for the first couple days.  And now?  Hudson, too.

Blaine beamed with pride as he bit into his bottom lip and fretted with a few locks of hair on Hudson’s forehead to make them just right.  “There!  Perfect,” his smile made his eyes crinkle at their corners, “Are you ready?”

Stunned, Blaine turned his attention from his notebook to her. He kept his mouth shut for a beat or two as hazel eyes underneath a set of arched brows read back and forth across hers.  “Yeah.  Sure.  No problem.”  Plucking up his cellphone, he checked the time and sat back.  He could do both of them one better.  Offer to do the work himself if it was too much for her to handle.  Or pick things up tomorrow so he could leave and make an early train home.  Giving her a few minutes before he put those options on the table out of the simple fact he’d rather get this project done.  Then focus on several others he had stacked on top of this one.  All while trying to help Rachel get settled in her new place, spend time with his husband and do that thing called sleep
